The Philosophy of Lemonade

Make Lemonade?

"When life gives you lemonade, made lemonade."
The classic adaptive, optimistic mindset. You just gotta take in reality and make it sweeter, no matter what. Focus on what you can control. In my opinion, quite a cliche. Does everything need to be sweet for you the drink it?

Don't Make Lemonade?

Who says you need to make lemonade? Not everything has to be sweet. Some of your hardships are going to be hard, and that is just the reality. There isn't any point in making something seem more positive when it is truly just a negative experience.

Forced Positivity

Not everything has to be redeemed. Some things are just plain bad, and guess what? You can feel sad. It's a natural response to feel unhappy that things didn't go your way. There's no need to be dishonest about your positivity. You are only diguising the lemon in sugar water and repressing the sourness rather than facing it tongue-on.

Resist the Lemons

Rather than taking those lemons, challenge them! (I don't want your damn lemons!) Challenge the systems that gave you those lemons in the first place. If you sit there and take in all of life's lemons, you aren't going to get anywhere! Throw those lemons out the window! Get up and move! Quit that lemon job!

Don't actually burn anybody's house down.
